Newsletter – A Message From John

Hi guys.

I know it’s been a long time between drinks, and my apologies for this. I don’t want to be the newsletter guy that spams you like a crazy man, so I’ve been laying low.

Let me start off by giving you some free stuff, so that you know I really do love you. These tracks are all taken from the Live Album Launch of Backbreaker in November at the Annandale Hotel. The live DVD is only a couple of months away now, and I have to say I’m quite proud of it.

So a recap… Performances wise, this year the focus was the first couple of months. Starting with Peats Ridge Festival. Always a fun experience. Then I went to Tamworth for the Country Music Festival… this was amazing. I met so many great musicans and I was introduced to a world that I never knew existed. I spent my week there busking in the streets, sleeping on hotel room floors, and for the last few nights in my extremely large(seriously) sleeping quarters in the back of my commodore station wagon. All I needed was a quiet street and a a big ol’ tree to shade me… great times. (Did blow up my radiator on the way home though… bad times) Thanks to Oporto for your sensational breakfast menu. Also managed to swindle my way into sitting right up the front with the ABC team for the awards night. Big thankyou to those guys for their generosity.

Our last tour as a band was Jan/Feb up around Byron, The Gold Coast and Brisbane. It was an amazing time for me and opened my eyes to the touring world, which we will be re-entering later this year.

Since then it’s really been all about my iPhone app for songwriters. For those of you who don’t know… I designed an app that allows musicans to document and build on their ideas…10 tracks of recording, allows you to convert your voice into instruments etc.. It stems from my time as an Industrial Designer. You can have a look at http://songcatcherapp.com

It’s been a mammoth task to get this project to where it is at now and I’m really proud to have it in the market place. The goal really is for it to generate enough revenue to finance my music career (where the heart lies)… So if you know any musicians that you think might like it, feel free to spread the word. We have a facebook page and twitter etc.. just search songcatcher and we’ll pop up on your screen.

The good news is that the new update is out, publicity campaign in the US has been run and I can now start bringing my attention back to the good stuff 🙂 Making tunes!!

In March the band and I went into the studio with your friend and mine, Sean Carey, to lay down the foundations for our next EP. It sounds terrific and last night I started the mixes. Sooo much work ahead, but we will have a new release for you in a few months 🙂 It feels so great playing with these guys. Though we don’t play that many shows, we’ve been a team for a year and a half now, and you can really hear that in these recordings, which is something that really excites me.

Here are a couple of vid’s of us in the studio. If you like them, I would totally love you for passing them on to your super pals.

Thanks for the support.
